If you are tired of shopping, temples and heat of Bangkok outside, this is an excellent alternative to cool off yourself at the indoor ice rink in the Esplanade shopping center. The rink is not huge with approximately a 682-square-metre, but there is plenty of room for beginners to glide along the outer rink while the more able skaters spin, jump or twist around in the center.
Sub-Zero has an atmosphere combining of a rink with a night club and karaoke. Once the sun goes down, Sub Zero Ice Skate Club will transform itself into a swanky club with strobe lights, live DJs, and blades-strapped “Angel Dancers”. Light snacks and drinks are also served on the ice bars. It is literally a cool place to just hang out with friends and family.
You could actually learn to skate. There are classes for ice skating, hockey, figure skating and speed skating given by Thai and foreign trainers. The classes are priced from Bt700 to Bt1,500 per hour. Ice skates and accessories are available for sale.
If you're not much of a skater but feel like hanging out, you might want to visit Ice Karaoke, four karaoke rooms featuring high-quality sound systems, 42-inch LCD screens and an array of cool songs from Thai and foreign artists. Prices are Bt300 to Bt500 Monday to Friday, and Bt500 to Bt600 Saturday and Sunday. Beverages and snacks are available.
Sub-Zero offers skating sessions from 11am to 3pm, 3.30 to 7.30pm and 8pm to midnight. Prices range from Bt150 to Bt250 for students to Bt200 to Bt300 for adults.
